This position provides technical support to aviation design engineering and construction management projects. This diverse opportunity involves a great combination of field-based and inside activities. During construction season, you will focus on conducting site observations interacting with a variety of field personnel. Most site visits involve local travel with occasional out of town travel for short periods.
During cooler weather, you will focus on office-based functions including CAD/design, preparing engineering calculations and reports to support civil design decisions In addition you be prepare cost estimates, specifications and construction plans.
This position can be located in our Sacramento, CA or Scottsdale, AZ offices. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
Minimum three years of related experience with preference for applicants with aviation, transportation and/or construction field experience.
BS in Civil Engineering and EIT certification (or intent to pursue in near future).
Proficiency with AutoCad 3/2D required including AutoCAD plan production experience in grading, site plans, utilities, surface, water management systems and drainage systems.
Preference given to candidates with aviation experience (i.e. horizontal projects at airport facilities such as runways, taxiways, parking aprons) or transportation (i.e. roadways/other transportation related projects) and land/site development.
Experience with construction plan preparation for transportation facilities, with a focus on aviation civil engineering, as well as utility, storm water, and land development/transportation design for local governmental agencies.
Experience developing project schedules and budgets using an account management system.
Experience developing scope of work and work plans for all associated production professionals.
Self-starter and highly motivated to progress in career path with a growing firm.
Effective time-management, written and oral communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to provide value-oriented design suggestions, review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design & production standards.
Knowledge of FAA Standard Advisory Circulars and design criteria a plus.
Experience in contract document preparation; ability to read construction plans and specifications and general knowledge of construction administration.
