Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering, a PE license, and 5 or more years of hydraulic modeling and GIS experience. A working knowledge of InfoWorks ICM and experience with ESRI Arc GIS, as well as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, FLO 2D, and SWMM are essential. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of hydrology, open channel hydraulics, and water/wastewater systems and be familiar with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and FEMA flood mapping and mitigation programs. A Certified Floodplain Manager qualification is preferred and excellent technical writing, organizational and communication skills are required. Individuals must be self-motivated and able to work well with others. Typical responsibilities include:
Provide technical planning, and design support on various wet weather projects that may include collection system, stormwater, hydrologic and hydraulic models and/or other surface water projects
Lead evaluations of wastewater and stormwater collection systems and open channels using hydrologic and hydraulic models
Work on various projects involving hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater master plans, mitigation planning, surface water assessment, stormwater quality, water/wastewater system analysis, and asset management
Develop flow monitoring programs and manage data analysis
Provide expertise on various floodplain regulations
Determine regulatory flood elevation for river channels using backwater analysis with various one or two dimensional numerical models
Predict scour depths at bridges, intermediate pier locations and bridge span lengths
Design streambank stabilization measures
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling and floodplain delineations using GIS
Design and review storm drain systems, culverts, box culverts, large span arches, open channel flow, and energy dissipaters
Perform and manage calibration of hydrologic/hydraulic models based on monitoring data
Provide support to a diverse team of professionals in multiple offices throughout the country to create and analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models and other surface water resource issues
Prepare/assist with specifications and permit submittals
Assist with/review scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks
Monitor task budget and progress
Conduct on-site inspections as needed
Prepare project status and other reports
Assist in the preparation of proposals
Assist Project Managers
Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc.
