The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is seeking qualified candidates with experience in the design, construction, and operation of mechanical systems (e.g. pumps, conveyors, boilers, pollution control systems, dryers, specialty equipment) and rehabilitating interceptor sewer systems and pump stations, for the position of Senior Project Manager.
Under the direction of the Section Manager, within the Conveyance/Plants section of the Technical Services Division, the successful candidate will manage projects, including preliminary engineering, design and construction phases, in a manner that ensures completion of projects on time and within budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform engineering analysis, develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
Manage consultant contracts and deliverables to ensure conformance with District policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure consultant contract milestones are completed within schedule and budget.
Coordinate and communicate with Construction Managers that manage and administer construction contracts to ensure compliance with contract documents and regulations.
Ensure the completion of all required documentation including record documents and record drawings.
Provide quality assurance reviews.
Prepare and advertise requests for proposals (RFPs) for procurement of engineering services related to assigned projects.
Prepare schedule and budget estimates for the District's annual and long-range capital budgeting effort.
Manage the acquisition of all required easements, permits, and Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreements for a construction project.
Assist the Legal, Contract Compliance, and Communication departments with technical expertise as needed.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, civil, environmental, industrial, or electrical engineering required
Minimum six years of job related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Desire familiarity with:
Solids handling systems
Instrumentation & controls
The District's Metropolitan Interceptor Sewer (MIS) system, Deep Tunnel system, and Water Reclamation Facilities
Large diameter sewer rehabilitation design and construction
Managing, administering and/or designing projects in industrial type settings, and/or maintaining mechanical systems within industrial environments
Wastewater treatment processes/operations knowledge is desirable
High degree of interpersonal and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to resolve conflict
Communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately
Ability to apply engineering principles and practices to the solution of engineering problems
Experience in managing and controlling project schedules and budgets, e-Builder knowledge is a plus
Training in OSHA safety, confined spaces, and first aid (training will be provided by the District)
Computer software proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Valid driver's license required
