Engineer is responsible for the design of buildings and infrastructure for new and existing dams and water resources facilities. Engineer will be involved in all phases of the project from planning and feasibility phases to conceptual and final design. The Engineer will supervise technical work and dam field inspections, as well as staff supervision, client correspondence, and scheduling during projects.
Perform dam safety inspections.
Perform analysis and design of various types of dams (e.g., earthen, concrete, hydroelectric, water supply, etc.).
Support in preparation of detailed design/construction drawings and specifications.
Assist in selection and qualification of subcontractors (specifically for drilling and surveying activities).
Perform geotechnical/structural analytical functions including stability, seepage, bearing capacity, and settlement analysis.
Develop construction and engineering cost estimates for dam projects.
Prepare technical reports and proposals.
Provide input to planning efforts and coordination of project tasks.
Domestic and international travel when necessary.
POSITION SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (advanced degree preferred)
New York Professional Engineers License
5+ years of experience in Dam Safety Evaluations, and Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis.
Experience in projects regulated by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
