Business Development, Marketing, Operations, Project Management
Reporting to the Executive Director, and serving as a member of the management team, this position's primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization's Meetings, Membership, Publication and Program functions.
Working with the management team, the position also contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices. This position requires interaction with the Board of Directors.
Oversee all phases of magazine production including editorial scheduling and advertising sales of all publications.
Ensure that all publications are actively managed and competitive with other industry publications from a price and circulation perspective.
Responsible for all SME meeting outcomes including attendance, finances and content.
Develop, monitor and implement all meeting, publishing and membership department budgets.
Ensure that all aspects of communication necessary for all operations are properly marketed to the appropriate audiences.
Provide written reports as necessary to boards and committees.
Explore, evaluate and recommend new methods and/or systems to improve any operational area performance.
Supervise managerial staff in all responsible operational areas.
Maintain productive and positive working relationships with all other departments and personnel, strong project management, interpersonal and change management skills.
Develop, along with assigned staff, implement and monitor programs to increase membership in the Society.
In coordination with assigned staff, work to improve the relationships with SME local sections, divisions and other key constituents.
Ensure all SME activities are appropriately staffed.
Explore, examine and present opportunities for business development in meetings, membership and publications.
Travel 6 -10 times a year.
Manages and motivates staff (including performance management and recognition duties).
Trains, directs and appraises staff.
Plans and organizes workload and staff assignments.
Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year college or university required. A master’s degree in business, education or other related areas is a plus. Minimum ten (10) years in related fields of association membership, meetings and publications. Any knowledge of the mining industry is a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
CAE Certification is a plus
Excellent skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
