Arup is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Transportation Engineer with five to ten years of relevant experience to work in our New York City office. The successful candidate will share our passion for creating great places and achieving sustainable planning outcomes that help ‘shape a better world’. The candidate will have experience in some or all of the following areas: complete streets design, pedestrian/bicycle facility design, transit facility design, intersection design, and traffic analysis.
As a Senior Transportation Engineer at Arup, you will work as part of a creative team to perform analyses and other technical input into a variety of plans such as corridor studies, master plans, transit studies, pedestrian planning/safety studies, traffic calming studies, and airport landside studies. Specifically, you will be responsible for:
Preparing conceptual street/intersection designs for urban and airport landside environments
Performing analyses using a variety of tools including Excel, traffic modeling platforms or other analytical tools
Writing reports for internal and external purposes
Presenting designs for review by technical and non-technical audiences
Understanding trends and best practices in the Transportation Industry
Participating in local Professional Associations
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in civil engineering, transportation planning or related field
Five to ten years of experience in the transportation sector
Effective communication skills
Familiarity with US planning and engineering practices
Experience with some or all of the following analytical tools: Aimsun, Vissim, Paramics, Synchro, and HCS.
Experience with other design or analytical tools is a plus (ex AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, Illustrator)
Certification as PE or AICP is a plus.
