Job Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions Provide strategic recommendations to the President/CFO & Parent Company based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis Oversee the company’s financial and budgeting functions Oversee administrative processes—including maintenance of state business and professional registrations, pre-qualification status, review of business insurance Oversee the preparation and approval of all financial and governmental reporting such as income tax returns, business licenses, business property taxes, etc. Serve as a business partner to the President & CFO with an eye to continuously developing and improving systems Coordinate all audit activities and ensure compliance with FAR requirements Maintain professional registration as required, which includes staying current with professional development hours (continuing education) Responsible for all general accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and General Ledger. Supervises the accounting staff that performs these functions Responsible for the preparation of all Client Invoicing in accordance with specific client and contract requirements. Maintain contract balances Filing of all payroll related tax returns and deposits. Knowledge and application of pertinent company policies as well as federal, state and local government regulations in this area. Monitoring daily cash balances and availability Maintenance of Fixed Assets schedules and preparation of monthly depreciation schedules Preparation of managerial, financial and cost reports such as “Monday” reports, cash flow projections, job profitability and unit cost calculations Filing of certain reports to federal, state and local government agencies such as fuel taxes, business licenses and business property taxes Administration, in conjunction with the Office Manager, of the finances for employee benefits including the health and life insurance program, worker’s compensation and 401k Profit Sharing Plan Other duties as assigned
Required Experience, Education and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance CPA 10+ years’ of progressive accounting and management experience Ideal candidate will have A/E (or similar professional services firm) experience with the ability to manage multiple teams and projects Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance requirements and internal controls FAR, AASHTO and government contracting strongly desired SEC reporting experience is a plus Experience in project cost accounting systems and processes Experience with Ajera, Deltek or similar is a plus Strong technology skills, including MS Office Strong analytical skills and detail orientated Self-motivated leader Willingness to be “hands-on” Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling a discussion of financial matters across a range of both financial and non-financial management levels
