Amec Foster Wheeler is currently seeking a Senior Civil / Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to join our Elko, NV team. He / she will manage projects and lead teams in Reno and Elko, to provide civil / geotechnical engineering services for civil engineering and / or mining projects.
This individual could be located in our Elko, Nevada office.
Will provide civil / geotechnical engineering and project management and be responsible for delivering geotechnical and geologic projects to Amec Foster Wheeler’s public and private sector clients - Projects include mining, site characterization, flood control, dams, levees, transportation, pavements and other civil works projects
Supervise and lead civil / geotechnical investigation and design activities
Project and budget management including resource management and oversight
Technical management and direction of site investigations and preparing technical reports
Managing and coordinating project teams, including ensuring the technical quality of deliverables
Geotechnical engineering analyses
Recognizes and initiates business development opportunities
Maintains effective client relationships; leverages project experience to win work
Lead and / or assist with the coordination, development and production of proposals, SOQs and presentations, ensuring the highest quality of information and documentation output
Skills / Qualifications
BS or MS in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or related engineering discipline
15 to 20 years + experience in geotechnical investigation and design, preferably in the mining industry
Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil mechanics and local Nevada soils and geology
Diverse experience in the following areas highly desired:
Mine design (tailings and heap leach)
Construction materials testing and inspection
Demonstrated Project Management skills and the ability to lead, train and mentor junior staff
Experience with drilling, field investigations, and laboratory testing
Good communication, report writing, interpersonal and presentation skills
Superior time management, planning and ability to interact with clients
Currently registered or immediately eligible for registration as a PE in Nevada
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
