Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions (Wood) is seeking an experienced Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC) / Civil Construction Inspector to support our field operations in south central Virginia. Candidate will have experience performing and documenting ESC inspections of construction sites and transportation corridors. We are seeking a dynamic, engaging individual who is knowledgeable of stormwater regulations and best management practices (BMPs) and will regularly interact with clients, subcontractors and regulatory agents.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
In this role you will support our Washington, DC Metropolitan Area office in the performance of erosion, sediment and control (ESC) inspections of active construction sites in south - central Virginia, and other locations. Regular travel is required, sometimes for extended periods, to inspect and document construction sites. You will support a team of project managers and engineers and will be responsible for evaluating ESC compliance in accordance with local and state regulations.
Skills / Qualifications
Candidate will live in the Richmond area and be willing to travel to project sites
>2 years’ direct experience performing civil construction inspections, erosion and sediment control (ESC), evaluating storm water BMPs and documenting site work
Experience with State and federal regulations regarding ESC, SWPPPs and best management practices
Ideally, the applicant will be a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and / or Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality (CPSWQ)
Must be a self - starter and independent thinker with good communication skills - Experience communicating with construction crews and client / county inspectors
B.S. / B.A. in Engineering, Environmental Science; Agriculture or related technical field, is a plus but not required
Experience with environmental field program, geotechnical engineering and / or construction material testing (CMT) is a plus
OSHA 30 - hr Construction Safety Training is a plus
Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (Motor Vehicle Safety) policy
