Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to add to the Highway Capital Program team.
Under direction, to have charge of varied and difficult engineering work involving the supervision of a professional transportation engineering staff engaged in a variety of activities, such as the planning and design of transportation systems and facilities, the operation of transit systems, special studies or services, and other transportation projects.
Desired Qualifications The Senior Transportation Engineer – Highway Capital Program is in the Engineering and Program Delivery Division and directly reports to the Highway Capital Program Manager. The major responsibility of this position is to act as Project Manager on complex highway or highway-related projects throughout the project life cycle and to also supervise lower level staff who are also project managers. Ideal candidates for this position would possess experience in delivering highway projects with experience related to planning, environmental clearance, and design of highway projects through the Caltrans project development process that includes the development of project study reports, project reports and supporting technical studies.
Classification Bargaining Unit: TAEA
Training and experience equivalent to graduation from college with major work in engineering and five years professional engineering experience on transportation systems or projects, including assignments which provided the opportunity to demonstrate supervisory abilities.
Registration as a professional engineer in the State of California in a field related to transportation engineering at the time of appointment.
