Snohomish County Department of Public Works is hiring a Public Works Supervisor III in Traffic Operations, a workgroup within the Transportation and Environmental Services (TES) Division. The Traffic Operations team is responsible for ensuring operations, safety and mobility in the Snohomish County road network. The team is also responsible for operating and maintaining traffic signal systems for the County and several other local agencies and providing traffic engineering and project management support for projects and developments within the County. Other divisional responsibilities include planning and prioritizing County road activities, performing environmental reviews of projects and keeping the public informed of Public Works’ projects.
The Public Works Supervisor III position is a senior level engineering position responsible for supervising a group of professional employees performing complex traffic/transportation engineering assignments. This position requires the understanding and application of a broad range of engineering principles, methods and practices for planning, design, construction, operations and safety. The Public Works Supervisor III will also provide leadership and guidance necessary to prepare and review complex and high-profile County and land development projects focusing on traffic operations, modeling, transportation planning, traffic design, traffic safety and access management. This position will also provide guidance for development and implementation of new technologies, innovative solutions and practices for data collection and level of service (LOS) analysis for arterial operations and concurrency management.
The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory/managerial experience and an extensive background in all aspects of traffic/transportation engineering, as well as project management, and the ability to lead a diverse team by utilizing excellent communication and technical engineering skills. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing several projects, with quickly changing priorities, all while providing superior customer service is essential. The successful candidate will also be able to work cooperatively with other divisions, departments and stakeholders, and creatively solve problems on complex projects.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required for this position.
