Duties: Within GeoEngineers’ Pipelines Business Unit, perform civil engineering activities in support of projects for the design and construction of utilities. Coordinate the observation of field explorations and construction projects, ensuring that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines. Assist with training entry-level engineers and Field Technicians. Complete detailed, accurate field reports. Support project management tasks, such as budget planning, general review of field reports, and proposal development. Manage small projects under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer or geologist, as required. Gather field data and field samples, including soil, groundwater and/or surface water. Coordinate samples for testing. Perform engineering analyses and calculations under the supervision of licensed engineer. Perform hydraulic fracture analysis and other engineering calculations in support of Horizontal Directional Drilling designs under the supervision of licensed engineer. Assist with the generation of technical reports; complete portions of technical reports, including the generation of figures and tables. Domestic travel to project sites may be required between 30% and 50% of the time.
Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 1 year of experience as a Research/Teaching Assistant, as an Engineer, or in a related geotechnical/civil engineering occupation. Experience must include 6 months of experience working with MathCAD, ArcGIS, GeoStudio Suite, FLAC, MODFLOW, Civil 3d, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, or other software related to the discipline of civil engineering.
Additional requirements include:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) certification.
Completion of at least 2 academic years of graduate-level (Masters or Doctorate) coursework. Coursework must include the following topics: soil mechanics, statistics and probability, soil dynamics, finite element analysis, fundamentals of horizontal directional drilling, and trenchless technology.
All education, training and experience may be gained concurrently. Applicants must be U.S. workers (includes U.S. citizens, permanent residents, foreign nationals granted temporary residence under one of the 1986 legalization programs, refugees, and asylees.
