This position is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the Traffic and Transportation Department, with specific emphasis on traffic signal design, maintenance and operation; and traffic signal systems design, implementation and communications. Duties include long-range transportation planning; conducting transportation studies and investigations; developing standards for, and preparing, reviewing and approving plans and specifications, designs and reports for traffic-related engineering activities; supervising assigned staff; creating and presenting exhibits and renderings to the City Council and at other meetings; and coordinating traffic signal division activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies. A Bachelor’s degree with a major in traffic and transportation, civil engineering or related field and five years experience in transportation engineering, as well as two years supervisory experience, required; municipal government experience preferable. Must have a class C Texas driver’s license; and possess, or be able to obtain, a Professional Engineer License in the State of Texas within six months from date of hire.
