Role:
The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the delivery of ITE technical products through creation and refinement of a variety of technical content. This position completes a variety of technical assignments and activities working collaboratively with different ITE technical staff and volunteers. The position reports to the Deputy Executive Director / Chief Technical Officer.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Conducts technical activities in ITS, ITS standards, transportation technology, transportation cybersecurity, and related areas of practice to support development of technical products as well as professional capacity building material for practitioners.
- Provides technical input and support in the creation of technical webinars and workshops including helping to identify topics and speakers and coordinate delivery of technical material.
- Provides technical support and input in the planning and preparation of a variety of technical publications. Works with authors, technical committees, and review panels.
- Supports advisory groups, technical panels and technical committees.
- Coordinates with other Standards Development Organizations (SDO’s) to both execute work plans and manage technical and volunteer activities related to ITS standards.
- Supports design and conduct of technical surveys.
- Collects, summarizes and analyzes technical data in support of a variety of technical activities and products.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of systems engineering, ITS technology, ITS standards and / or transportation cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, Outlook, and other collaboration database and project tracking tools. General familiarity with open source web site content management systems.
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective, positive working relationships with other employees, government officials, contractors, association members, and the general public.
Abilities:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data and content.
- Ability to develop technical content to support a variety of technical products, including ITS standards and technical training.
- Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and develop technical content related to work.
- Ability to set priorities, organize and coordinate work activities with others.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from ITE staff and members.

Other Specific Qualifications:
- Three years of professional experience in ITS, ITS standards, transportation technology, transportation cybersecurity, and / or related areas of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
- Ability to occasionally travel to conferences, meeting and other related activities.
