LOCATION: The City of Brampton has implemented a gradual reintegration of staff into the workplace. Beginning on April 4, 2022, onsite work location of two (2) days a week will commence. Beginning on July 4, 2022, this will increase to three (3) days a week. There will be continued opportunities for hybrid work from September 2022 onwards, and we’ll continue to evaluate to determine which hybrid model works best. Once working onsite, you will report to the location of Flower City Community Campus.
SALARY GRADE: 6
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $93,803.00 - $105,529.00 per annum
MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $117,254.00 per annum

Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, Environmental Assessments, this position is responsible for conducting Environmental Assessment studies for road capital projects. This ensures that designs meet City, engineering and legislative standards and protect public safety while roadway projects progress effectively and efficiently.
- Assists in the preparation of annual project budget by preparing cost estimate of projects including cost of engineering, environmental assessments, design, inspection, surveying, utility relocation, construction and related costs.
- Administers capital work projects by formulating designs, preparing schedules, guiding technical staff in the collection of all pre-engineering data collection and analysis.
- Conducts environmental assessments, requests for land acquisition and participates in negotiations.
- Manages the design of Capital projects to ensure the design meets design standards, safety, economics and addresses environmental concerns.
- Obtains all project approvals from Government bodies and various agencies.
- Assists in the preparation of request for proposals, arranges the award of the contract, certifies contract payments and certifies the satisfactory completion of project.
- Liaises with other public bodies - Alectra, Region of Peel, Consumers Gas, etc. regarding the relocation of utilities to accommodate new construction.
- Liaises with other City Departments on projects and duties of joint interest and for specific input
- Collaborates with other Civil Engineers and Professionals regarding Municipal Engineering matters throughout the City
EDUCATION:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, plus courses in Public Administration/Financial Management are assets
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years’ experience in the Municipal Engineering field
- Supervisory experience with technical staff
OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:
- Member of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
- Must have knowledge of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.
- Must have training in engineering computer applications, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Training in project management is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to work with deadlines.
- Report writing skills and excellent presentation and negotiations skills.
